How to Use BioGuard SoftSwim Filter Aid

FILTER AID FOR CARTRIDGE AND SAND FILTERS
Rinse or backwash filter according to the manufacturer’s instructions then return to filter cycle. Predissolve outdoors in an empty, clean plastic bucket 0.5-1.0 lb of BIOGUARD SOFTSWIM FILTER AID in 1 gallon of water for pools ranging from 10,000- 35,000 gallons. Stir with a clean plastic or wooden spoon. Pour predissolved solution slowly into the skimmer with the pump running. Filter continuously 24-48 hours or until the pool clears. If the pool does not clear, backwash filter and repeat as necessary. If the pressure gauge increases 8-10 psi above the normal operating filter pressure, backwash and rinse the filter appropriately. Resume routine maintenance schedule.
FILTER AID FOR D.E. FILTERS
Backwash and clean the filter according to the manufacturer’s instructions then return to filter cycle. For pools ranging from 10,000 to 35,000 gallons, predissolve 1-2 oz of BIOGUARD SOFTSWIM FILTER AID outdoors in a clean plastic bucket in 1 gallon of water. The slurry can be stirred with a clean plastic or wooden spoon. Slowly pour the solution into the skimmer with the pump running. Filter continuously 24-48 hours or until the pool clears. If the filter pressure increases 8-10 psi above the normal operating filter pressure, backwash and clean the filter as necessary.
FLOCCULANT
Backwash or rinse filter according to the manufacturer’s instructions. Test pH and adjust to 7.6 -7.8. Allow pool to circulate for 2 hours before proceeding to the next step if pH adjustment was necessary. Raise the water level in the pool to the top of the skimmer box and turn the pump off. Use BIOGUARD SOFTSWIM FILTER AID at the rate of 1 lb per 6,500 gallons of pool water. Predissolve outdoors in an empty, clean plastic bucket 1.0 lb of BIOGUARD SOFTSWIM FILTER AID in 1 gallon of water. Stir with a clean plastic or wooden spoon. Pour the solution along the edges of the pool. Allow 24-48 hours for the floc to settle to the bottom of the pool and slowly vacuum to waste. If some of the floc becomes resuspended allow an additional 24 hours for it to settle and slowly vacuum to waste. Check and adjust pH and total alkalinity as necessary and resume routine maintenance.
