BioGuard Erase Iron Stain Remover is specifically formulated to combat iron-based stains, restoring your pool surfaces to their former beauty. Its proprietary granular formula can be added directly to pool water over the trouble areas, and is compatible with plaster, tile, and vinyl surfaces to accommodate virtually all pools.

How to Use BioGuard Erase Iron Stain Remover

Read entire label and use strictly in accordance with precautionary statements and directions.

  1. If swimming pool equipped with a heater, turn the heater off, then isolate from the circulation system.
  2. Adjust balance of pool water to the following: pH 7.0–7.4, total alkalinity 125 to 150ppm (or 80–150ppm for pools equipped with chlorine generator), calcium hardness less than 400ppm.
  3. Adjust chlorine or bromine residual to less than 1ppm. Use BioGuard ChemOut®, if necessary. For SoftSwim® pools, maintain SoftSwim B residual between 30–50ppm.
  4. Do not add shock product to the pool water during this process, otherwise re-staining could occur.
  5. Add 2 pounds of BioGuard Erase Iron Stain Remover per 12,000 gallons of water into pool water around the edges of the pool. If stain is specific to one area, apply product to that area.
  6. Use surface compatible brush to brush away un- dissolved product off pool surfaces. Allow the pool water to circulate for 1 hour.
  7. Apply the proper dosage of Pool Magnet Plus (or SoftSwim Stain Control if treating a SoftSwim pool) per label directions, to help prevent restaining.
  8. Allow water to circulate for 24 hours.
  9. Apply Sparkle Up (or SoftSwim Filter Aid for SoftSwim pools) to cartridge and sand filters according to label directions.
  10. Continue to circulate pool for a minimum of 24–48 additional hours.
  11. Remove Sparkle Up (or SoftSwim Filter Aid) from filter by backwashing or cleaning.
  12. Apply BioGuard Kleen It according to label directions to remove metals trapped on the filter.
  13. Test pool water and adjust water balance items and sanitizer to the following: pH 7.2–7.6, total alkalinity 125–150ppm (or 80–150ppm for chlorine generator pools), chlorine, bromine, or SoftSwim to residual specified on your sanitizer product. For SoftSwim pools, re-establish Clarifier level to 30ppm.

NOTE: Do not use BioGuard Iron Stain Remover on Acrylic spa surfaces. Do not add a shock product to the pool water for 4 days following completion of the Sparkle Up addition part of the process.
